SUPPORT GROUP TIMES
We have had such a huge response to our support groups that we feel it's necessary to expand this service to accommodate the needs of family members and other caregivers. Starting in April we will hold Support Groups every Wednesday from 10-11:30 a.m. at Memory Matters, 117 William Hilton Parkway.
These meetings are designed to give caregivers resources, information, tips and tools. They are also a safe, confidential venue to share concerns. And an added bonus is the opportunity to network with other caregivers. Sharing ideas about what works, what doesn't, what resources were helpful, and the common experience of caring for someone with dementia are all beneficial. Brain Boosters Program
Memory Matters offers an exciting program for people experiencing Early Memory Loss called “Brain Boosters.” Those with Early Memory Loss want to know what is causing their memory loss, and what can be done to minimize this loss. They want to be pro-active and “do” something about their memory loss. They want to benefit from a stimulating and positive environment; they want and need activities that are different than those offered in a more advanced dementia program. They can learn new information; they are aware of the changes in their memory. And they desire a safe environment, separate from family, where they can share their feelings and fears. The benefits of “Brain Boosters” are enormous and can improve long-term quality of life.
This weekly program stimulates the senses, offers memory re-training exercises, strengthens brain functions, enhances abstract thinking, and establishes a support system.
Don’t let early memory loss or changes in your memory stop you from enjoying every day of your life. Life is too short! Take positive steps to obtain practical tools to help with these changes.
